| Bio: | Mar e Fados was created in December 1st, 1992, by Alfredo Paredes, and in its begining it was a group of friends that were trying to bring something different to Fado and to Figueira da Foz, and also supporting and teaching whoever wanted to be a Fado singer, an instrumentist, or simply a Fado Lover, specially those who were from its howetown, Figueira da Foz
In 1997, Mar e Fados has recorded its first Cd, "Mar e Fados-Nós e o Fado", and is recognized as a very talented group, with much quality, and very simple and humble people.
As so, group Mar e Fados is requested for all over Portugal, Europe and USA, performing about 100/150 shows per year.
Mar e Fados has also played for professional Fado singers, such as Simone de Oliveira or Nuno da Câmara Pereira, among others, and has been in some important festivals, such has The Passion Tour, USA, and The Northwest Folklife Festival, USA.
Recently, Mar e Fados has created a chamber orchestra , with a violin, a viola, a cello, an oboé and a piano. This joint gives Fado a beutiful sonority.
This is a group in a permanent evolution, trying to give a different sonority to Fado, mixing other musical styles like Bossa, Mornas, Samba, etc, making it sound completely different, as can be listened in the section Audio Samples.
